Visa procedure

Going outside Europe may request a visa. Please note that international students residing in Italy (who do not hold EU citizenship) may require a visa for travelling outside Europe, including to other European destinations.

Do I need a VISA to study abroad?

Within the EU: no visa is required for EU citizens. However, international students (not holding EU citizenship) residing in Italy will need a visa for travel to other European destinations.

Outside the EU: a visa may be required depending on the destination country and personal situation. Each country has different procedures. Please contact the host university for detailed information.

I would like to renew my Italian residence permit to be able to stay in the host country. What can I do?

If you need assistance with the request to renew your residence permit, please contact the Saos Help Desk: saos@unipd.it.
